The Polish authorities are planning to invite Putin to the anniversary of the outbreak of the Second world war

Власти Польши планируют пригласить Путина на годовщину начала Второй мировой войны

The Minister of foreign Affairs of Poland Bartosz Cichocki said he will direct the office of the President the recommendation to include Russian leader Vladimir Putin on the list of commemorative events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second world war. On 9 February, reported the Agency RIA Novosti

Commemorative events marking the outbreak of the Second world war, held annually on the Westerplatte Peninsula near Gdansk, where 1 September 1939 at 4:45 am began the invasion of Nazi Germany into Poland.

The Polish foreign Ministry stressed that the final decision on the guest list will be received by President of Poland Andrzej Duda. Would the President of Russia will respond to the possible offer of Polish leadership, obviously, will depend on the level of Russian-Polish relations.

In recent years, bilateral cooperation has not the best period. So, in 2015, the Polish authorities did not invite the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, and then President Bronislaw Komorowski refused to travel to Moscow for the celebrations in honor of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic war.

According to the political traditions of commemorative events in Europe often are perceived as informal international summits, during which it is possible to solve complex interstate problems. So, it was a meeting of European leaders on June 6, 2014 at château de Bénouville in Normandy (France), dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the allied landings, was established the "Norman format" in order to find ways out of the Ukrainian crisis.
